Solar PV · Pixel Air proprietary software

From the drone-surveyed roof to the design, the proposal and the diagram

Two programs for installers: system design on the 3D model of the roof and the single-line electrical diagram. In the browser, on Mac and Windows, with nothing to install.

Progettazione fotovoltaica

From the drone survey to the customer proposal, in the browser

The software installers use to design a PV system on the 3D model of the roof built from drone photos. It recognises the roof faces, lays out the modules, proposes strings with electrical checks, calculates shading, yield and economics, and prepares the proposal, report and permit paperwork. It runs in the browser on Mac and Windows with nothing to install; photo processing takes place on our servers in Europe.

  • Photographic 3D model of the roof from drone photos
  • Roof faces, obstacles and keep-out zones recognised and editable
  • Modules and strings with electrical checks per MPPT
  • Hour-by-hour shading and yield for every module
  • Energy bill, storage, energy community and payback
  • Proposal, report, single-line diagram and permits with the installer's brand

Modules on the real roof

The module field laid out on both faces, parallel to the ridge and around obstacles.

One project, step by step

The 3D survey model

The building and its surroundings as they really look, from the drone photos.

Roof faces recognised

Pitch, orientation and area of each face; skylights and obstructions marked as keep-out zones.

Strings and electrical checks

Each face on its own MPPTs, with voltage and current checks at local temperatures.

Shading and yield

Score of every module and monthly yield.

Figures for the customer

Energy bill before and after, self-consumption, payback.

Permits in the software

The paperwork required, with data ready and the status of each.

Documents for the customer

Customer proposal

System, yield, figures, 3D view on the real roof and dimensioned plan, with the installer's brand.

Permits and data for the single application form

The system's paperwork with deadlines, who files it and the legal references.

Example values: system, prices and consumption are not from a customer.

Applications

Homes

Pitched roofs with chimneys, dormers and skylights: faces measured on the 3D model, modules laid out up to the permitted edge.

Industrial and commercial roofs

Large and flat roofs, south-facing rows or east-west pairs, multiple inverters and several strings per MPPT.

Farms

Barns, haylofts and even low sheds, with shading from nearby buildings and trees calculated from the survey.

Energy communities

Shared energy hour by hour, with members' consumption taken from their bills.

Sales and quotes

Proposal from the installer's price list, 3D views of the system on the real roof and clear figures for the customer.

Permits and grid connection

The paperwork the system needs, with data ready and deadlines; on request Pixel Air handles it.

Full list of features

Survey

Drone survey by Pixel Air
Flight request from the software, with dates, site access and contact; the status follows requested, scheduled, flown, delivered.
Photos checked on upload
The software keeps suitable photos and flags those far from the group or out of format.
Quick preview
A first orthophoto to see the roof straight away while the full model is processing.
Photographic 3D model
The roof and its surroundings as they really look, with the drone photos applied to the model; underneath, orthophoto and terrain models at 2 cm.

Roof

Roof faces recognised automatically
Pitch, orientation, area and outline of each face, including industrial roofs and low sheds.
Manual drawing with checks
Faces drawn or corrected by hand, with a warning when they depart from the survey.
Obstacles and keep-out zones
Chimneys, windows and other obstructions, keep-out zones and edge setbacks.

Modules and strings

Automatic layout
Maximum module count in portrait or landscape; on flat roofs south-facing rows spaced against shading or east-west pairs. One click removes or restores a module.
Module and inverter catalogue
The brands most installed in Italy, with data from the manufacturers' datasheets.
Strings proposed by the software
Each face on its own MPPTs, several strings per MPPT, unequal MPPTs and multiple inverters.
Electrical checks
Cold and hot voltages with local temperatures, start-up voltage, currents per input and per MPPT, DC/AC ratio; when there is no solution the software explains why.

Shading, yield and economics

Hour-by-hour shading
Shading from nearby buildings, trees and obstacles taken from the survey model and applied to every hour of the year.
Yield of every module
Score from 0 to 10 with colours on the roof, yearly and monthly yield, shading losses.
Shadows at a chosen date and time
The sun on the chosen day and hour, with shadows on the 3D model.
Energy bill and storage
Before and after, self-consumption, exported energy, self-sufficiency, battery with its efficiency.
Feed-in, tax relief and energy communities
Feed-in with the zonal price, tax relief, energy shared with community members, payback over the years.

Documents and permits

Installer's brand and price list
Company name, logo and colour on every document; quote from the installer's price list with VAT, discount and three presentation styles.
PDF documents
Proposal, roof plan (also DXF), string plan, single-line diagram and preliminary technical report, with the chosen 3D views.
Permits for Italy
The software lists the system's paperwork (single application form, grid connection, customs, ENEA, energy community…) with data ready, deadlines and the status of each.
Permits handled by Pixel Air
From the software the installer asks Pixel Air to handle the paperwork and follows its progress.
To the single-line diagram
The system goes to the single-line diagram software in one click.

Access

Company accounts
Installers with their own login and projects, managed by the administrator.
In the browser
On Mac and Windows, also in a narrow window as on a tablet, with nothing to install.

Single-line diagram

The single-line diagram, drawn from the system

The single-line electrical diagram of the PV system, generated from its components, with protections, cables and title block.

In the browser, on Mac and Windows, with nothing to install.

Three automatic proposals

From the module, the modules per roof face and the site, the software proposes three configurations: economy, balanced and top, with inverters, strings per MPPT and efficiency.

Diagram generated from the system

Modules, strings, inverters, DC- or AC-coupled storage and meters: the diagram draws itself, with protections and main switch.

Multiple inverters, large systems

Industrial roofs and systems with several inverters in parallel: each inverter with its own strings and protections, on a tidy drawing sheet.

Protections and cables sized

Breaker ratings, cable sizes, voltage drops, string fuses and DC isolators: calculated and written on the diagram.

Free drawing

Library of standard symbols: drag, connect with wires, move, rotate, group and undo. Tag and description on every element.

Drawing sheet ready to deliver

Title block with the company logo, automatic legend, system data table and preliminary-drawing notice on every sheet.

PDF, DXF, SVG and images

Export to vector PDF, DXF ready for CAD software, SVG, PNG and JPG.
